Like most of the 500+ floating homes in Seattle, this one started as a humble shack on an old growth log raft built in the 1920’s. This project, our third for the client, undertook extensive interior remodeling, new wood panel cladding, and a second level addition with roof deck.  The completed design interlocks old and new elements to reflect the quirky, ad hoc qualities of the moorage community, and in a nod to the client’s mandolin passion, the string motif was subtly incorporated in interior lighting, spiral stair details, and cable railings.
